What an absolutely fantastic night we had for our Snow Ball in December.
Marlborough Town Hall was transformed into a winter wonderland by the creativity of William of William Bartholomew and his team along with the fabulous flowers from Sarah Styles -Florist and keepsake tablecloths and napkin holders by Jacqui Melhuish Ceramics and Illustration. We were treated to a delicious meal by Rachael from Square Root Events – the carving skills of some guests were put to the test with an individual stuffed chicken roulade for each table; the sharing platters of miniature puddings were works of art! Champagne and wine came from our wonderful local, independent wine merchant Barnaby GrapeSmith in Hungerford, fabulous as always. Thanks also to our entertainers, the amazing band 24-7 and magician Edward Hilsum and our auctioneer Charles Lucas.
We are always so grateful for the generous support of so many businesses in providing raffle and auction prizes … Roxtons, Renault F1 Team, The Really Useful Group, Karen Bennett Photography, Marlborough College Summer School, Richard and Lucy Pash, Rockley Manor Weddings, Haine & Smith Opticians, David Dudley, ThePalm, Swindon Audi, Henry Hannon, Richard Hannon Stables, Richard Hughes, Jon Gregory, Rose Shorrock, The Woodspeen, Stowell Farms, HUE Ltd, Giffords Circus, Barbury Shooting School, Jax Jeans, Fowler Architecture and Planning, Sumbler’s Butchers, Pewsey Vale Riding Centre also to our committee and all those behind the scenes who made the event and the fundraising possible – Alison Colley at Novus Creative, Covered Occasions and Nick Craddock. What a fantastic day we had at our first Charlie’s Charity Clay Shoot at Barbury Shooting School. A huge thanks to all the ‘guns’ for joining us, our wonderful instructors, to Roxtons for the raffle prizes, GrapeSmith for the fabulous wine, Rachel at Square Root Events for the delicious food and the weather gods for being kind! It’s certainly going to become an annual event so watch this space!
We’re so delighted and thankful that we are now the official charity of Roxtons. Roxtons has five shops in Hungerford, Cheltenham, Alresford, Stockbridge and Haslemere and after 40 years on our High Streets are now a much-loved local, independent brand. Roxtons will be raising money for us at their events and donating fabulous raffle and auction prizes.
We were delighted to hear news from Alicia Boyer, our sponsored figure skater!
In October Alicia competed in an international competition at Lee Valley. winning first place in the short programme with a personal best score of 30.52! Many, many congratulations Alicia! …. we always love hearing news from the talented youngsters we support through Charlie’s Charity. Especially when their emails end with words like these ……..
” I just wanted to say again thank you so much for everything you do for me. I could never thank you enough! Love Alicia”
So fantastic to see our play equipment being used by children and adults alike at Swings & Smiles. Based in Thatcham, near Newbury, Swings & Smiles is a place to play for children with special needs and their families. It offers a unique environment where the whole family feels supported and where they can spend quality time together. We’re delighted that some of our Charlie’s Charity funds have gone to buy this equipment that will be enjoyed by so many families. What a wonderful local initiative! www.swingsandsmiles.co.uk
Some photos of Alicia who we sponsor. In a recent competition at the end of September, Alicia came second in the short programme where she managed to land a double axel. She then came first in an additional programme where she made no mistakes at all!
The Charlie’s Charity Masked Ball was a great success. Picture here!
